Hang in There

My most recent post was written as a ‘heads up’ to all of us that change is afoot, and that change is reflected in the stars. Not just incremental shifts, either. My sense is that we’re on the cusp of some dramatic – dare I say revolutionary – transformations in circumstances globally, nationally, and personally. And today, while managing to wedge in a walk between raindrops, I discovered a message for all of us as we navigate these times: hang in there.

As I’ve mentioned before, when tracking the movement of planets and their impact upon our lives here on Earth, it’s important to take into consideration the size of the planets involved and the length of their orbits around the sun. For instance, Pluto’s orbit around the sun takes approximately 248 years. Saturn’s orbit takes approximately 28.5 years and Jupiter’s 12 years. Mercury, meanwhile, zips around the sun in just 88 days, Venus in 225 days, and Mars in just shy of two years.

And we all know the moon, while not a planet, does profoundly influence the water on our planet every single day, causing the tides. It only stands to reason that its gravitational pull influences the water in our bodies, as well, as we’re comprised of 98% water. For some (perhaps many) people, that impact is experienced as a fluctuation of emotions.

It stands to reason that the more rapidly moving planets (and the moon) tend to impact us on a more personal, fleeting level. The big guys, the ones that haul their massive, voluminous bodies around the sun in far longer, more ponderous orbits, tend to yield longer-term and more profound impacts upon all of us. These influences are often reflected on more of a societal or planetary level as well as impacting us personally.

Personal vs. Impersonal

The planets that have the most tangible and observable impact upon us on a day-to-day basis are called the ‘personal’ planets: Mercury, Venus, and Mars. Jupiter and Saturn are both so large that their presence and movements wield a lot of power on us both personally and globally, and are thus often considered ‘transpersonal’ planets. Saturn is also the last planet we’re able to glimpse with the naked eye, so in a sense, Saturn represents a boundary. It demarcates the line between the personal and the impersonal planets.

When the so-called impersonal planets, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto shift their position around the sun and thus their relationship to us, the results might be likened to the impact of glaciers on the Earth’s surface. Slow, inexorable movement that has the capacity to literally move, remove, or create mountains. But the planetary movements, at least, are not taking thousands of years. (We’ll save that for a discussion on the precession of the equinoxes, as our solar system makes its way around the galactic center.)

What Is My Point?

I didn’t intend to go down this rabbit hole again, but every time I try to explain it in a blog post it makes more sense to me. I hope it’s a little helpful to those of you who, like me, aren’t astrologers either.

My point in bringing all of this up again is that it’s no coincidence that we’re witnessing major democratic challenges and uprisings all over the world. I’ve mentioned before that, as a country, the United States is experiencing its ‘Pluto return.’ That means Pluto has completed its orbit around the sun and is generally back where it was in the sky at the time of our revolution.

And how interesting is it when we look at the upheaval and protests in France. Gee, they’re also experiencing their Pluto return.

Globally, there has been a resurgence of autocratic, strongman politics. Just this month, however, there have been gigantic protests by masses of people in the countries of Georgia and, most recently, Israel, shutting down attempts by fascists to seize control of their countries.

Our Turn

And here we are. Whether it’s a result of the refusal of elected officials to enact legislation (desired by overwhelming majorities in both parties) to reduce the nauseating slaughter of children and adults in mass shootings or the insanity of the Republican party’s efforts to seize control over our judiciary, we too are being forced to take a stand. The pressure has been building slowly, inexorably, not unlike the pressure exerted by glaciers – or underneath volcanoes. Or perhaps the slow and cyclic movement of the impersonal planets.

We the people are being forced to take to the streets by those who refuse to respect democratic principles. In overwhelming and unmistakable numbers so great as to be impossible to ignore, we must demand transformation. The old ways of doing things will no longer stand. Greed, selfishness, and apathy cannot, must not, continue to hold sway in Congress or in our populace.

These profound global changes are reflected in the movement of the outer, impersonal planets. And through various aspects to each other, they’re working in concert to bring us to a place where we finally open our eyes and ears and realize we must save ourselves (and our children).

As the events unfold, let’s remember the message I saw in the body of that tree earlier today:Hang in there, my friends!

We must believe in ourselves and each other. We hold the inherent power to create the country and world we’ve always believed in.

Radically Positive – ND #41

Radically Positive

Tomorrow (Tuesday 18 January 2022) has the potential to be a radically positive day in the United States. Conventional wisdom, of course, suggests that it will merely be a sad (and infuriatingly disgusting) affirmation of the dark, anti-democratic trajectory our country seems to be insisting upon taking.

I’m speaking of the Senate beginning formal debate on the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act. It is utterly disgusting to me that this is even a ‘thing’ in our country in the 21st century – that due to the rooted-in-racism origin of the Senate rule establishing the filibuster, it takes 60 votes to even begin debate on bills in the Senate.

The only way debate will be taking place tomorrow on this voting rights bill is because it will be attached as an amendment to a bill related to NASA that has already passed the Senate, and then the House (with amendments), and is now going directly back to the Senate. What a convoluted process to even open debate on such a fundamental and defining aspect of our system of government.

Just think of it! Voting: our sacred opportunity to have a voice in our government is under as great a threat now as it was 60 years ago. There are forces at work (that have lurked in the darkness for the duration of our country’s existence) that will do anything to skew the table as to who has the power of the franchise. Talk about things being ‘rigged.’ This needs to end.

Cause for Optimism

You’ll recall that I began this post with the shocking suggestion that tomorrow may end up rendering a positive outcome. My teeny tiny sliver of hope comes from the stars. Because…why not?

First of all, we just enjoyed a full moon tonight (the 17th), and full moons usually bring with them a sense of culmination and fulfillment. Well, ok. I’m ready to embrace the idea that the forces of racism and blatant (as well as subtle) attempts to disenfranchise our fellow citizens have run their course. It’s time for this revolting attitude and mindset that enshrines inequality to come to an end.

And beyond the full moon is the fact that Uranus, the great planet of revolution, lightning-like change, and enlightenment is ending its retrograde course and turns direct on the 18th. It’s time now for us to stop hanging back. It’s time for some major disruption in ‘the way things are done’ – in a positive sense – by jettisoning the filibuster or simply having a couple of Republicans actually stand up and courageously take a stand ensuring voting rights for all citizens.

Oh my, wouldn’t that just be a radical notion? Wouldn’t it be utterly thrilling if we suddenly witnessed the entire Senate stand up and link arms in solidarity to the fundamental building block of our nation? Yes, I know. I’m a dreamer.

But who knows? Maybe we’ll witness something amazing tomorrow. Wouldn’t that be a radically positive outcome to a battle that needs to end now?

Trickery – Day 1074

An 8-point buck; I swear! – Photo: L. Weikel

Trickery

I don’t know what it was about today, but things did not seem to be what they appeared. Or maybe it would be more accurate to say they didn’t appear to be what they were. Either way, the trickery with which I felt my eyes and brain were being teased was unexpected.

I think I was expecting the light of this powerful full moon to illuminate everything that needs to be seen, both easily and obviously. If we have been deceiving ourselves, then certainly it stands to reason that when the big reveal arrives, we should be able to recognize it. Right?

Well, maybe that’s not the way things really work. I don’t know.

Or maybe some things were being revealed while others were just messing with me. Or – a third option: maybe the ephemeral is the reality. Maybe what I take to be something certain and obvious actually isn’t.

A Better Look – Photo: L. Weikel

Chupacabra?

My first example of what I mean is the creature I encountered early this evening as I was driving home from the grocery store. The moon was just coming above the horizon and was filling the backdrop of blue-black sky with an eerie orange glow. I rounded a 90 degree turn and this was standing in the middle of the road. It took me by such surprise that I had to fumble for my iPhone – and even when I found it, I only managed to take this single photo.

I think it’s a chupacabra. And I think it usually disguises itself as an 8-point buck.

Sea Lion Amused at the Illusion – Photo: L. Weikel

Number Two

My second surreal moment today came while permitting myself a couple moments at the creek. The weather was flawless. Ha ha –  I take that back. In all the vastness of this perfect autumn day, one single cloud appeared in the middle of that cerulean sea. Even that moment felt like it was hinting that there’s more to what things than what meets the eye.

But the photo below took what felt like an inordinate amount of time to come into focus. It literally felt like my brain was doing that in-and-out with a telescopic lens that cameras do now. No matter how I looked at this photo, I couldn’t make heads nor tails out of it.

The wavy attempts to focus and make sense of what I was seeing did settle. And when they did, I very clearly saw the smiling Sea Lion sitting at the base of the portal –  err, I mean, the shimmering entrance to another world.

So, you tell me. What was revealed?  The truth of the way things really ‘are?’ A glimpse into another realm?

Which makes me also wonder what ‘the truth’ is about the things and circumstances I’m seeing now in other areas of my life. Am I engaging in trickery over myself?

Full Moon in Aquarius – Day 985

“Protection” – Mystic Art Medicine Oracle Cards by Cher Lyn

Full Moon in Aquarius

Today’s full moon in Aquarius took place when the Sun was at 1 degree 26 minutes of Leo and the Moon was at 1 degree 26 minutes of Aquarius. Interestingly, in August the full moon will take place when the Sun is at 29 degrees 37 minutes of Leo and the Moon is at 29 degrees 37 minutes of Aquarius.

That means that there will be two full moons taking place in the sign of Aquarius this year. If these two full moons were taking place within the same month, the second one would be called a ‘blue moon.’ I have no idea whether there’s a special name for a second full moon in the same sign. But it seems like it should be significant; perhaps the qualities of the sign the moon is going through to complete an entire ‘full to full’ cycle are especially important to integrate.

I’ll be the first to admit I don’t know.

But if that might be the case, here’s a thought: Aquarius is the 11th sign of the zodiac. (I won’t even go into the significance of the number 11 as a ‘portal.’) The 11th house of the zodiac is associated with groups, social reform, social causes, global awareness. Some key words associated with Aquarius are innovation, originality, and social change.*

Two Aquarius Full Moons

It would seem to me that the presence of two consecutive full moons in Aquarius, highlighting the 11th house of the zodiac, will mandate we focus a great deal of our attention upon circumstances and issues that have greater societal importance than personal relevance. Certainly we will all be impacted personally by the collective realities that unfold on a societal level – but our primary focus will be on the bigger picture facing society itself.

To that end, I decided to ask for a ‘watchword’ for us to keep tucked in the back of our minds as we navigate the next 28 days. The deck I chose to consult was the Mystic Art Medicine Oracle Cards by Cher Lyn. The card I chose was Protection, which I will excerpt here:

Protection

“Archangel Michael is Spirit of Fire.

His sword of light offers energies higher.

His shield of Protection,

Averts illusion and deception.

(…) In the painting of “Archangel Michael’s Fire of Transformation,” Hi aura/wings are golden light. You see an Eagle emanating through his sword of fire, no longer choosing to be depicted killing, as His essence is Love and Protection. The medicine of Eagle flies high into the heavens and moves easily between worlds, bridging earthly and spiritual power. He serves as the mediator and bearer of a new creative force. A Dove at the foot of His robe is the symbol of prophetic vision, balance, and peace within the maternal feminine. The winged Pegasus splashing in the waves of consciousness lifts you into higher realms of awareness. A cosmic stairway guides you on your journey to higher perception. The transformational fire blesses you as healing waters flow, blessing from the heavens above.

Archangel Michael is a powerful protector. When the card of Archangel Michael shows up, rest assured His energy is surrounding you… Should you ask, Archangel Michael will protect and assist you with the transformation of negative agendas or forces otherwise not of your highest good by connecting you to higher spiritual truths.

Choosing the Protection card could be a sign to step back and take inventory of whom or what you may be letting into your personal space. Perhaps He is inspiring you to enlist Him to cut some cords. Most likely He is inspiring you to raise your consciousness and connect you more with your spiritual essence. (…)”

My Take

It seems to me that there will be some major transformational energies at play over the next 28 days, energies that could easily cause major shifts in our perceptions of who we are and where we’re headed societally. Especially considering the first paragraph and the reframing of the Eagle, we could experience some major growing pains this month. The Eagle could easily be interpreted as the United States, or possibly even the ‘Western world’ in terms of how we think of societies on our planet.

It can’t hurt to call upon Archangel Michael or whatever Beings of similar protective intention we work with to help us raise our energies and protect ourselves, each other, and our highest intentions and ideals. Simply setting the intention of invoking protection and aspiring to create a higher expression of balance, awareness, and peace could shift the forces that we’re going to be called upon to collectively face.

I feel this card is yet again reflecting our year-long challenge of radical transformation posed by Saturn squaring Uranus (three times this year). We’re not out of the woods yet.

We can do this. We must not be afraid to cut away that which no longer serves us – yet we would be wise to invoke protection.

Crone Calling – Day 968

Photo: L. Weikel

Crone Calling

Or should I say, “Calling all Crones?” No, even though I embrace my personal status as a Crone (and therefore prefer to capitalize it), I’m not writing this post as a rallying cry solely to my sisters. Rather, I’m excited to announce that there’s a crone calling all of us right now in the form of a brand spanking new, hot off the presses, limited run of 250 Tarot of the Crone decks.

I’ve written many posts (here, here, and here, for instance) in the past 967 days that make reference to my much-loved Tarot of the Crone by Ellen Lorenzi-Prince. These cards always seem to bring an eerily accurate message when I consult them. And beyond whatever intuitive sense I may receive from the cards when I choose them – based simply on either the image itself or my pretty limited knowledge of tarot in general – the narrative provided by the deck’s creator is uncanny.

The exciting news I’m sharing today is that the deck, which has been out of print for a couple of years, I believe, is now available for pre-order.

Guidance for the Coming New Moon

Naturally, then, it feels only fitting that I consult the Crone for some guidance or insight on what to keep in mind as we approach this new moon in Cancer. Again – fundamental beliefs and structures are being challenged. Institutions we thought would always be part of our lives either no longer are or are on their way out. And we’re being asked to contemplate what we want to seed in their place.

As I write these words, I’ve not yet ‘picked.’ So I have no idea whether we’ll be given guidance on what is or needs to be ‘blown up’ (metaphorically, of course), radically changed, or suddenly exposed, or whether we’ll be shown what is waiting in the wings to be seeded as the structure or foundation of the next phase of our lives.

How and What I Chose

I decided to go a little rogue on all of us and instead of just choosing one card (and taking note of the card at the bottom of the deck – giving foundation or context to the ‘top’ card), I decided to pick three cards. The first card for insight into our ‘Saturn’ (i.e., the underlying, fundamental beliefs or structures that operate in our lives that need to be examined, perhaps challenged, and possibly torn down); the second card for insight into our ‘Uranus’ (i.e., how or in what way can or will sudden illumination strike or challenge that Saturn; how or in what area might we benefit from radical transformation); and the third card for insight into what seeds might be planted where the old foundations or beliefs we held (or were told) used to be.

Saturn – Uranus – Seed(s)

  1. (Representing Saturn): Ten of Disks ~ Age

Ten of Disks – Tarot of the Crone by Ellen Lorenzi-Prince

“My world is smaller

But my soul is not

My world is harder

But I survive

A figure with knobby knees and a sunken aged face sits with her thoughts in a throne-like chair. As the body is the root of life, age is the result. Hers is the voice of experience and the understanding of physical limitations. She may be valued for her wisdom, but her no-nonsense views often set her apart and keep her alone. Like her, know that life occurs mostly inside you. Value your own experience and the wisdom of your body.”

  1. (Representing Uranus): Witch of Cups ~ Siren

    “Where the waves dance

Where the stars and tides align

    There I celebrate my passion

    There I abandon restraint

    There I create movement

That will last a thousand years

A red figure, whose body echoes the curl of the purple waves around her, reaches with them for the stars that arch overhead. The Siren flows with the power of water to move and transform. She draws to her what she desires from the strength of her own desire, like calling out to like to join in the dance. She sings with the power to carry you away to worlds where love reigns, souls merge and blood, the juice of your life, runs full and free.”

  2. (Representing the Seeds to be Planted): Nine of Disks ~ Community

Nine of Disks – Tarot of the Crone by Ellen Lorenzi-Prince

“Together we build

Home for us all

Nine homes with open doors are gathered on a rich brown hillside beneath a field of stars. Here connection reaches farther than family. It is not so personal a relationship, but it is quite as necessary. There are others who share your air, your earth, your dreams and there always will be. Each one is part of the whole. Acknowledge the endeavors that support your living. Consider your own contribution. The antidote to isolation is sharing. How do you want to touch this world?”

Food For Thought

The connection of each card with each ‘subject’ is fascinating to me. As is always true, we each bring to the table our own unique set of life circumstances and perspectives to interpreting the message of each card.

I invite you to sit with each card. Notice how you feel when you simply look at the image; then notice and pay attention to the words written by the deck’s creator. Which words jump out at you – and how do they make you feel?

Allow yourself to contemplate (and dare I suggest – write out in a journal?) a coherent message between the cards. Remember, Saturn (structure) being challenged by Uranus (transformation) could indicate that in order to achieve transformation we may need to bring more structure to our lives. Cultivate a secure environment in which to plant those new seeds.

In other words, don’t assume that Uranus always means things need to get flipped upside down and inside out. They could just need to be radically changed. And that can (almost certainly will) look completely different for each one of us.

Have fun with this. It’s time to shake stuff up one way or another. We might as well be active and conscious participants in the reshaping of our lives, don’t you think?

Finally, don’t forget to order your own Tarot of the Crone deck if you feel an affinity with these cards!

New Moon Approaching – Day 967

New Moon Approaching – Photo: astrologyally.com

New Moon Approaching

As we allow this post-holiday second week of July to play itself out, I’m reminded that there’s a new moon approaching that will arrive this Friday evening at 9:16 p.m. EDT. As always, because a new moon (also known as the dark moon) is exactly conjunct the Sun, then whatever sign the sun is in, the moon is too. Thus, this will be a Cancer new moon because the Sun is in Cancer too.

Please forgive me if my explanation is too basic for you. But for the longest time, I never really paid attention to the technicalities of what makes a moon new or full, or what a conjunction, opposition, square, or trine of planets (and the luminaries: Sun and Moon) means. And even after all the books I’ve read, readings I’ve had, and podcasts I’ve listened to, I still need to stop and think about it. So when I’m moved to write about astrological stuff in my posts, I like to explain it as best as I can so you can visualize it.

Thus experiencing a new moon this Friday evening means both the Moon and the Sun are in the sign of Cancer. And among other attributes, Cancer is the sign in which the Moon is very much at home. It’s a sign that is intimately connected to our emotions, nurturing, care and compassion – and the concepts of family and home.

As with all new moons, it marks a new beginning. The time of a new moon is the best and most powerful time to plant the seeds of new ideas or ways of being, start new jobs, begin new projects, strike out on fresh new adventures, and set powerful intentions.

Other Players, Too

As I’ve written about a number of times already (and linked to a number of astrologers who’ve explained it a lot better than I can even synopsize), this year’s theme, if you will, has been centered on Saturn ‘squaring’ Uranus. In point of fact, these two massive planets exactly square each other three times in 2021. The second of these three exact squares was on June 14th, and the final square will occur on December 23rd.

Saturn is the planet associated with rules, foundations, laws, patriarchy, the ‘way things have always been done,’ and structure.

It’s also associated with shame and ‘shoulds,’ which kind of makes sense. If we don’t follow the rules or do things the way they’ve always been done (or the way we’ve been told), then those in a position of power to punish or judge us can heap guilt or shame on our heads. It’s important to note here that we hold the power of shame and guilt over our own selves – just as much as any external authority can wield it against us.

In the wider world, Saturn can represent the foundations of society, our government, ‘The Law,’ hierarchies of power, etc.

As I mentioned, Saturn is squaring (or another way of looking at it is challenging or provoking) the planet of Uranus pretty much all year, but we had a direct ‘hit’ on June 14th and we’re still feeling the effects of that because these outer planets move so slowly. Uranus is associated with radical transformation, sudden illumination, explosive shifts or changes in perspective and is often depicted in association with lightning. When these two planets are in square aspect to each other, it’s not hard to see where this could lead.

My Feeling

I have to laugh when I write ‘my feeling,’ since the sign of Cancer is all about feelings. But it feels to me as if this new moon is asking us to acknowledge those places in our lives where some major shaking of foundations has taken place – and to decide how and what we want to start building anew. What seeds do we want to plant that will replace those old structures, foundations, beliefs, or stories that we told ourselves (and based our lives upon) that have essentially been shaken or, in some cases, struck by lightning and blown up.

It feels really important that we all give ourselves the chance to sit quietly, take stock and honestly look at what has left us or fallen down or away in our lives over the past six months (representing the first two of the three squares of Saturn and Uranus).

And we need to ask ourselves: what do we want to plant after we clear away the rubble? It feels especially important for us to pay attention to our emotions as we engage in this reflection. What do we want to feel as we move forward? Who will we consider to be our ‘family?’ What do family and the foundations family represents mean to us moving forward?

I’m mentioning this now because the new moon isn’t until Friday. I don’t know about you, but I need a few days to really sit with this and make some choices.

Metamorphosis – Day 918

“Hi, I’m Gorgeous” – Photo: L. Weikel

Metamorphosis

In our wanderings around the premises of Linwood Gardens over the weekend, we were treated to a smörgåsbord of flora and fauna in varying states of development and metamorphosis.

We encountered them everywhere, from tightly closed buds to fully flowered explosions of color and luminescence. Most tantalizing were the blooms ‘on the verge,’ so filled with the promise of bursting into magnificence yet almost magically held back by the thinnest evidence of restraint. It’s difficult to look at those achingly promising buds and not viscerally feel our own urge to burst forth into the world in a dazzling expression of our own uniqueness.

With respect to the flowers, it was hard to ignore the accumulation of life force in each bud. The earlier buds, those that were obviously not going to blossom within, say, 24 hours, were tough little nuggets of prospective beauty. But there was no mistaking those buds that were begging for just another hour or day more of warmth before unleashing themselves on the world.

Can’t Hold It In Any Longer – Photo: L. Weikel

Fantastic Frogs

Of course, the classic examples of true metamorphosis are our amphibian friends, which happen to populate the premises in abundance. In each pond, pool, and fountain we found evidence of every stage of life. Indeed, there were a few times that we realized if we sat still long enough and just stared into the water, even without the aid of a microscope we were witnessing almost countless examples of life being lived at a furious and frenzied pace.

From massive tadpoles to shy froglets to adults displaying themselves in glory as they basked in the sun’s warming rays, we were treated to a veritable science exhibit on the miracle of transformation these creatures display. We take their process for granted – at least I know I do. But the process of change from tadpole to frog is astonishing.

Tadpoles – Photo: L. Weikel

Teeming Life

In some ways, it felt like we were being given an opportunity to witness evolution on a micro scale. For myself, it felt like reassurance from Mother Nature herself that even if we humans really mess stuff up – which, let’s face it, in many ways and in many places we already have in a very big way – life will find a way.

Looked at one way, this is an extremely reassuring message. In another, it’s a stark reminder of just how inconsequential we humans are.

No matter how you look at it, it’s hard not to feel a sense of awe. It’s also worth pondering, for me at least, what transformation I want to continue creating in my life. Is another metamorphosis in the offing?

More Challenges – Day 792

Mystic Art Medicine Oracle Cards by Cher Lyn – “Medicine Power”

More Challenges

I’m willing to bet most of you join me in feeling the weight of this week hanging on our collective shoulders. A sense of foreboding is starting to permeate everything. It doesn’t help when the FBI warns that even more challenges may erupt in all 50 states, as well as the nation’s capital, at any moment.

As I sat down to write this evening, I wanted to provide something for us to ponder or perhaps use as inspiration or, dare I say it, hope. I feel as though the Crone cards I chose last week are still formidable guides for the entire month, so I feel like we should ‘stand pat’ on those.

My gaze went to my Mystic Art Medicine Cards deck by Cher Lyn. Do they have something to impart that might provide an assist as we deal with the after-effects of an attempted coup?

Perhaps.

Medicine Power

I shuffled gently and calmly, opening my heart and asking what might serve us to focus upon tomorrow, or perhaps as the week plays out. I felt quite peaceful as I shuffled, so I was surprised when one card literally jumped out of the deck and fell to the floor, face up. Hmm. Medicine Power. Flipping the deck over to see what was on the bottom, I again felt a sense of awe: Transformation. A card and a concept that, like the Eagles I wrote about yesterday, has been stalking us.

As soon as I looked it up and started reading, I realized the craftiness of Spirit.

Medicine Power – “Crazy Horse”

Eagle awakens vision eye,

Medicine power, ancient master wise.

Spin the cosmic portal

Unveil the secrets to be immortal.

~ Cher Lyn

“In the painting of “Crazy Horse,” one side of his head is donned with a white eagle feather, a sign of pure power bridging the spirit world to the physical plane here on Earth. On the other side is blazing firepower for transformation. Crazy Horse possessed Medicine Power as a prophet, seer, leader, and spiritual healer. He had the ability to commune with spirits dwelling on all levels of Creation. His face painted with the six-pointed star is a key of ancient cultures, Sacred Geometry come together and in itself is a Medicine Power. Conveying balance of the masculine and feminine within the infinite circle.

The dictionary acknowledges medicine as a synonym for magic, relating to magical forms of healing. Medicine Power doesn’t only represent healing the body from illness, but includes the design of finding all things of the Earth and Cosmos a gift. Native Americans use the word medicine to describe inexplicable forces beyond human perception. Medicine Power can be a stone, bone, plane, animal, or even a paintbrush. Everything is alive with spirit and potential medicine. Love is the most powerful Medicine. Your Medicine Power is innately always in you without a talisman, still a talisman helps you remember.

Wake up, take notice, and watch for omens and signs for the gifts of Medicine Power are always available to you. Don’t be fooled by medicine just because it seems small to your ego; the ant is a very powerful medicine.

Drawing the Medicine Power card is not to be taken lightly. Watch for signs. This card signifies an important medicine gift coming your way. In your heart, you have all the Medicine Power you need to heal your world.” (emphasis added)

Mystic Art Medicine Oracle Cards by Cher Lyn – “Transformation”

The Foundation – Underneath: Transformation

Transformation – “Egyptian Magic”

“ (…) All things form and transform within the mysterious cycles of birth, life, and death. Instead of fearing the darkness you can bless it, learn from it, and embrace it. It is both your humanness and your light. The shadow you fear is powerless without the interpretation of your beliefs, thoughts, and desires. The power of Transformation lies in your ability to find the light within the shadow and make the connection, infusing focus on its light quality instead of the darkness.

Everything you think, feel, and do creates your lessons in the world you live in. Inside you great intelligence, wisdom, and love are ever present. It is the beliefs you have been taught that are the hindering factor here. Let the fire in your heart inspire you for Transformation. Perfecting your character and at the same time helping you let go while allowing any pain, sorrow, or difficulty to just be there. Allow the alchemical change to unfold and evolve you in its own time as you journey through your world with the power of intentions.

The Transformation card suggests that you be in touch with both your shadow side and your spiritual side. True Transformation can only happen in connection with your heart. Setting in motion authentic spiritual alchemy you will see a change in you, like base metal into gold. Essentially shifting your whole perspective.” (emphasis added)

A Reminder

I cannot love enough how Eagle managed to show up again for me today. Not literally in the feather, but in this main card for us – Medicine Power – reminding us of the power of paying attention to the messages being sent our way. It’s also reminding us of how essential it is that we discern within ourselves what unique gifts we can bring to shifting and transforming our world – right now.

It’s also uncanny how the Transformation card has been following us around like an obedient dog over the past many weeks and months. It was the foundational concept (watchword) when we were tasked with Perseverance not two weeks before the election.

Some good stuff to contemplate as we do our best to stay the course and witness the transformation of our country and our world.

Creation – Day 734

Mystic Art Medicine Oracle by Cher Lyn – “Creation”

Creation

As I wrote in last night’s post, when I chose some cards on our behalf from the Mystic Art Medicine Oracle deck, I was intrigued by the appearance (yet again) of the Transformation card. The concept of this card has been riding with us for at least five months or so. Only this time Transformation was the top or ‘main’ card – indicating, I surmise, that we are in the thick of it. We’re no longer calling in the transformation of our perception, of our world, of our reality. We’re living it. Or rather, as the ‘foundational’ card of this pick, Creation, would indicate, we’re creating it.

I deliberately chose to share ‘the rest of the story,’ as it were, with you tonight for a couple of reasons. For one, the post would’ve been too long had I included what I want to write this evening. For another thing, with the power of the new moon that just occurred minutes ago (as I write this) to both fully release the old and serve as fecund opportunity to plant something new, I thought we might benefit from focusing our attention full-on to the power of Creation tonight.

Given all that we’re experiencing in the United States right now, especially with respect to the election results (and what was created as a result of the exercise of our sacred right and responsibility to vote), I got chills reading the words of Cher Lyn for this card:

Creation ~ “Medicine Baby”

The boy king’s heart gives love a chance.

Innocence is the wind in the butterfly’s dance

Bridging rainbow colors to bless and align

With Intent…an anticipatory design

Pause for a moment…imagine

Our New Creation…Divine.

  • Cher Lyn

“The image shown here from “Medicine Baby” is symbolic of the male spark in Creation. The innocence of the male is needed for recognizing the feminine in her wisdom, co-creating balance and healing. This unity brings peace back to Creation on Earth. He is decorated with crown jewels that ordain him as the chosen one who sends golden heart energy into the center of Creation. He is of royal indigenous bloodline and uses ancient alchemy to co-create with the goddesses of the Four Directions and Elements to heal the hearts on Earth. His butterfly wings are the colors of the rainbow and emanate from his chakras. The butterfly is a powerful symbol of change, moving from land, to cocoon, into finally a beautiful winged butterfly, the ultimate transformation.

Everything has an order of being within the infinite cycle of life. Indigenous cultures knew the ways of nature and Earth wisdom to sustain their lives in a good way. They knew how to heal naturally using the ways of the Land. They had seers and dreamers who could predict the future and warn them to safety.

It seems the further you wander from your innate unified connection with the Earth and God, the emptier you feel. You then strive to fill this emptiness with ‘material things,’ which only buries you into deeper feelings of disconnection. When electronics and entertainment distract with the illusion that they make life more interesting, it’s a warning that you have given your power away. Keeping you from what otherwise could be an extraordinary life. Nature is powerful beyond your imagination. When humans and nature come together working co-creatively, gifts far beyond your wildest dreams will unveil.

Creation medicine card has come to help you heal your relationship with yourself, the Earth and all of Creation. Essentially in asking, your inner-wisdom will offer you a way to live in a less complex and distracting world. Let go of any diversions that are draining your life force. Create more powerfully with the infinite world within you.” (emphasis added)

It’s Time

While I am the first to caution that we exercise care and vigilance as we move forward following the outcome of this election, there is also a sense of emergence in the air. It’s time for us to move forward, and it behooves us to do so with all due speed and deliberation.

The cacophony of discord may persist for a while, and I doubt it will ever recede completely, but the tide has turned. Our perceptions have shifted and transformed. We are continuing to evolve. We are ready, willing, and actually able now to create the vision of a country and world where we work together for the good of all, including – indeed, of paramount importance – our Mother Earth.

Hold the vision of the Butterfly as we bring in this new, passionate energy. I wonder what we will discover has come to fruition when we reflect upon the full moon in Scorpio, which will occur six months from now?

Old Ways – Day 733

Mystic Art Medicine Oracle Cards by Cher Lyn – “Transformation”

Old Ways

As I mentioned last night, the new moon will happen tomorrow night (technically at 12:07 a.m. Sunday morning for those of us on the east coast of the United States). There’s a lot of stuff ‘closing up’ and coming to an end, on scales personal, local, national, and global. If you glance around (or look within), you may recognize old ways of thinking and being, old ways of doing and believing that just don’t fit into our present reality anymore.

The time of the new moon is when we finally let go of those last vestiges of whatever it is we know we need (and often want) to finally excise from our life. As a result, it’s also when we dangle a bit in a limbo of not knowing, of emptiness. It’s the time of the Dark Moon.

The time of the Dark Moon is when the sun and the moon are perfectly aligned (together, on the same side of the Earth), creating a situation in which the moon is not in a position to reflect any of the sun’s light. It ‘goes dark.’ This time of the Dark Moon, as it is called, is a most fertile and abundant time. It is in the dark, moist, fecund soil of the new moon that we plant the seeds of what we want to manifest in our lives in the coming days, weeks, months, or even years.

Obviously, every seed we plant at the time of a new moon is not going to ripen and achieve its fullness in two weeks. The cycle of what you plant at this new moon may take an entire month, three months, a cycle of an entire year or perhaps even longer to come to fruition. Every project or intention has its own unique cycle. It is possible, however, to coordinate with the natural rhythms of Mother Earth, Grandmother Moon, and Father Sun.

New Moon Watchwords

Most of us are still going through some major transitions, including the challenge of navigating and hopefully keeping ourselves safe from the exploding Covid-19 infections. I don’t know that any of us can kick back and relax at this particular point in our evolution. We’re still in the thick of a lot.

So I decided to choose some cards for us from our trusty Mystic Art Medicine Oracle. Sitting with the deck and shuffling it, I blew into the cards my question for us: What concepts should we keep in mind as we plant our new seeds this weekend?

Transformation/Creation

The primary card I chose was Transformation. This card, this concept, has been shadowing us for a while now. It was underneath (the ‘foundation’ card) back on the night of October 21st – giving context to and laying the foundation for the primary card of Perseverance.

But it actually made its first appearance in another deck – The Ocean Oracle, by Susan Marte – on the night of July 10th of this year. The top or main card from that deck was Flow (Stingray), with Hidden Gifts (Jellyfish) and Transformation (Sea Glass) forming the foundation of that oracular message as well.

So. What are the chances that Transformation would form the foundation of two substantial ‘picks’ I made, months apart, from two separate decks?

What Does It Mean

We’ve had Transformation stalking us since July – and now, on the eve of a new moon in the passionate, life/death/rebirth transformational sign of Scorpio, it takes center stage. We are on the cusp of transforming all our lives, as well as the life of our country and quite possibly the world.

I’m going to leave you tonight with the words that speak to me most powerfully from the Transformation card, which I quoted above. And while I will include below the image of the Creation card, which was the foundational card of this ‘pick’ for us, I will hold off on writing about it until tomorrow. It feels important that we really sit with the ‘Scorpionic’ aspects of this Transformation card and ponder precisely what it has been asking us each to discern within our own lives: what aspects of our lives have run their course, what old ways need to fall by the wayside, and what ideas or rays of light need to be given the opportunity to germinate now.

What within each of us needs to transform from base metal into gold?
